Gastric Botox Turkey: £800 All-Inclusive with an IFSO Surgeon

Gastric botox is not a shortcut and it is not surgery. It slows how quickly your stomach empties, so you stay full for longer — which makes a diet easier to follow. Performed under sedation by Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı, with same-day discharge and one vial of Allergan botulinum toxin.

How it works

What gastric botox actually does to your stomach

Gastric botox is an endoscopic procedure, not an operation. A gastroscope is passed through the mouth into the stomach and botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle wall from the inside. Nothing is cut, nothing is removed, and no part of your anatomy is permanently changed. That is the reason there are no incisions and no scars — and also the reason the effect is temporary.

Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı uses one vial of Allergan botulinum toxin per treatment, placed in two specific areas rather than spread evenly across the stomach:

Target 1 — the gastric outlet

The muscle at the stomach's exit is temporarily relaxed, which slows the rate at which the stomach empties into the small intestine. Food stays in the stomach longer, so the feeling of fullness after a meal lasts longer instead of fading after an hour.

Target 2 — the fundus

The upper part of the stomach is where most of the hunger hormone ghrelin is produced. Injecting this region targets the hunger signal itself, rather than only the mechanics of digestion.

Put together, the two effects work in the same direction: you feel full sooner, you stay full longer, and the drive to eat between meals is weaker. This is why the honest description of stomach botox Turkey is not „a treatment that makes you lose weight" but a treatment that makes a diet possible to follow. The weight comes off because you eat less — gastric botox is what makes eating less bearable.

What it is not: Gastric botox does not shrink your stomach the way a sleeve gastrectomy does, and it does not occupy space the way a gastric balloon in Turkey does. It changes muscle behaviour and hormone signalling for a limited period — typically four to five months — and then your stomach returns to how it was before.

Honest numbers

What weight loss is realistic with gastric botox?

Most pages selling this procedure avoid a straight answer. Here is ours: 10 to 15 percent of your body weight — and only if you follow a diet alongside the treatment. Gastric botox on its own, with no change to what you eat, will not deliver that.

Starting weight 90 kgroughly 9–13 kg
Starting weight 110 kgroughly 11–16 kg
Starting weight 130 kgroughly 13–19 kg
Window of effect4 to 5 months

Read the last row carefully, because it is the row the marketing pages leave out. The effect is not permanent. After four to five months the muscle recovers, gastric emptying returns to its previous rate, and hunger returns to where it was. What you keep afterwards is what you built during that window: smaller portions that now feel normal, a routine you can hold, a weight you have already reached.

That is the correct way to think about the treatment. Gastric botox buys you a period in which eating less is genuinely easier — and it is your job to use that period. Patients who treat it as four months of assistance do well. Patients who treat it as a procedure that works on its own are usually disappointed, and that disappointment is not the treatment's fault.

For comparison: a gastric sleeve in Turkey typically achieves far more total weight loss and the anatomical change is permanent. If your BMI and your medical history point towards surgery, gastric botox is the weaker choice and we will tell you so rather than sell you the cheaper procedure.

Candidate selection

Who gastric botox is for — and who it is not for

This is the section most clinics skip, because every excluded patient is a lost sale. We would rather you read it and decide correctly. Gastric botox Turkey suits a narrow group well and a wider group badly.

A good fit
  • You do not meet the criteria for bariatric surgery. Your weight is a real problem but your BMI and medical history do not justify an operation.
  • You meet the criteria but you are afraid of surgery. This is a legitimate reason and we hear it constantly. A reversible, non-surgical step is a reasonable place to start.
  • You are willing to follow a diet. The treatment makes that easier; it does not replace it.
  • You are fit for sedation. A short endoscopy under sedation must be safe for you.
Not suitable
  • Gastric ulcer. We do not inject into an ulcerated stomach. This needs to be treated and healed first.
  • Cardiac or pulmonary disease severe enough to make sedation unsafe. No cosmetic or weight-loss benefit outweighs an anaesthetic risk.
  • You have a clear surgical indication. If a sleeve or bypass is the right answer for your BMI and comorbidities, gastric botox will underdeliver and you will have spent money on a four-month delay.
  • You are not prepared to change how you eat. Without a diet the result will be small and you will conclude the treatment does not work.

Deciding which group you are in is not something you should do from a website. Send your height, weight, age, any diagnosed conditions and any previous stomach operations, and Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı will tell you directly whether stomach botox Turkey is the right step for you — or whether it is not.

Step by step

How the procedure actually runs

One of the reasons patients choose gastric botox over surgery is how little of their life it takes. Here is the whole process, with nothing left out.

  1. Before you travelYou send your height, weight, age, diagnosed conditions and any previous stomach surgery on WhatsApp. Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı reviews it personally and confirms whether gastric botox is appropriate — or recommends something else.
  2. The night beforeNothing to eat or drink for eight hours before the procedure. That is the entire preparation. There is no pre-treatment diet and no liver-shrinking regime.
  3. The procedureA gastroscope is passed through the mouth under sedation. You are asleep and feel nothing. One vial of Allergan botulinum toxin is injected into the gastric outlet and the fundus. There are no incisions.
  4. Waking upYou wake in recovery within a short time. There is no wound to care for, no drain and no dressing. Mild bloating or a sore throat from the scope is normal and settles quickly.
  5. The same dayYou are discharged the same day and can fly home the same day. This is a single-day procedure — you do not need a hospital stay, and no overnight accommodation is required for the treatment itself.
  6. The following monthsYou start eating to a plan while the effect is active. Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı stays in contact by WhatsApp and video call throughout the four to five month window, because that period is where the result is actually made. If you work with a dietitian at home, this is the time to involve them.

Because there is no incision, there is no wound infection risk, no scar and no recovery period in the surgical sense. The trade-off is the one described earlier: the effect is temporary, and what you achieve depends on what you do during those months.

Transparent pricing

Gastric botox Turkey cost: £800, and exactly what that covers

Comparison sites quote gastric botox Turkey anywhere between roughly £1,100 and £2,500, and the same clinic page often shows several different figures because surgical prices are mixed in with endoscopic ones. The gastric botox cost here is a single number: £800, all-inclusive. Below is what sits inside it and what does not, so there is nothing to discover on arrival.

Included in £800
  • The endoscopy itself — Performed by Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı, not delegated.
  • Sedation — Administered and monitored by an anaesthetist.
  • One vial of Allergan botulinum toxin — The product is named because you are entitled to know what is being injected.
  • Airport transfer — Collection and return, arranged for you.
  • Follow-up for the whole window — WhatsApp and video call with the surgeon across the four to five months the effect lasts.
Not included
  • Flights — Your journey to and from İzmir. The package begins when you land.
  • A dietitian — Not included. The eating plan is what produces the result, so if you work with a dietitian at home, involve them.
  • Accommodation — Not included and not needed for the procedure — you are discharged the same day and can fly home the same day.

Payment: in cash on the day of the procedure. There is no deposit, nothing is taken in advance, and there is no instalment plan. If Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı concludes that gastric botox is not right for you, you have paid nothing to find that out.

Side by side

Gastric botox, gastric balloon or gastric sleeve?

The gastric botox cost sits at the bottom of what looks like a ladder of prices, and these three procedures are usually presented that way. They are not. They do different things, last for different lengths of time, and suit different patients. The cheapest is only the best value if it is the right one for you.

Read the last row first, not the first row. If your BMI and comorbidities point to surgery, the £800 option is not a saving — it is a four-month postponement of the decision. Equally, if you have no surgical indication, an operation is not a stronger choice simply because it costs more; it is the wrong operation.

The full price list for every procedure, including bypass and revision surgery, is on the gastric sleeve surgery price page. If you are weighing botox against a balloon, the gastric balloon cost in Turkey is set out separately.

Safety, stated plainly

Is gastric botox Turkey safe? What you should know before booking

You will find pages describing this treatment as revolutionary and pages describing it as dangerous. Neither is accurate. Stomach botox Turkey is a low-risk endoscopic procedure when the product is genuine, the dose is correct and the patient has been properly assessed — and every reported serious problem traces back to a failure in one of those three.

What is normal afterwards
  • A mildly sore throat from the gastroscope, settling within a day or two
  • Bloating or a feeling of fullness in the first days as gastric emptying slows
  • Some nausea early on, particularly if you eat the same volumes as before
  • Drowsiness for the rest of the treatment day from the sedation
How we reduce the risk
  • One vial of Allergan — the manufacturer is named, and the dose is not increased to promise a bigger result
  • Sedation given and monitored by an anaesthetist, in a hospital setting
  • Patients with a gastric ulcer or with cardiac or pulmonary disease that makes sedation unsafe are declined
  • The endoscopy is performed by the surgeon himself, not delegated

About the reports you may have read. Serious complications following gastric botox Turkey have been reported in the international press. Those cases have been associated with procedures where the product used, its origin or the dose given were not what the patient had been told. This is precisely why we name the manufacturer and the quantity on this page. If any clinic will not tell you which product they use and how much of it, that is the point at which to stop — not the point at which to ask about price.

One more thing you are entitled to know: using botulinum toxin in the stomach for weight loss is an off-label application. It is not an approved indication in the way that a sleeve gastrectomy is an established operation. That does not make it improper — off-label use is routine and lawful in medicine — but it does mean the evidence base is thinner than for surgery, and any clinic presenting gastric botox as a proven equivalent to bariatric surgery is overselling it.

Frequently asked

Gastric botox Turkey: your questions answered

The questions patients actually ask before booking gastric botox Turkey — answered without marketing language.

What is the gastric botox cost in Turkey?

The gastric botox cost is £800, all-inclusive. That covers the endoscopy, the sedation, one vial of Allergan botulinum toxin, your airport transfer and follow-up with Op. Dr. Volkan Arayıcı for the whole four to five month window. Flights and a dietitian are not included; accommodation is not included and is not needed, because you are discharged the same day.

How much weight will I lose with gastric botox?

Between 10 and 15 percent of your body weight — provided you follow a diet during the months the treatment is active. On a 110 kg starting weight that is roughly 11 to 16 kg. Without a change to what you eat the result will be considerably smaller. Gastric botox makes eating less easier; it does not do the work for you.

How long does gastric botox last?

Four to five months. After that the muscle effect wears off, the stomach empties at its previous rate and hunger returns to where it was. What you keep is the weight you lost and the habits you built during that window, which is why the eating plan matters more than the injection.

Is gastric botox safe?

It is a low-risk endoscopic procedure when the product is genuine, the dose is correct and the patient has been assessed properly. We use one vial of Allergan botulinum toxin, sedation is given and monitored by an anaesthetist, and patients with a gastric ulcer or with heart or lung disease that makes sedation unsafe are declined. The serious cases reported in the press have been associated with procedures where the product or the dose was not what the patient was told.

Is gastric botox FDA approved for weight loss?

No. Using botulinum toxin in the stomach for weight loss is an off-label application — it is not an approved indication in the way that a sleeve gastrectomy is an established operation. Off-label use is routine and lawful in medicine, but it does mean the evidence base is thinner than for bariatric surgery. Any clinic presenting gastric botox as a proven equivalent to surgery is overselling it.

What are the side effects of stomach botox?

Most commonly a mildly sore throat from the gastroscope, bloating or fullness in the first days as gastric emptying slows, some nausea early on if you eat your previous portion sizes, and drowsiness on the treatment day from the sedation. These settle without treatment.

Does the procedure hurt?

No. It is performed under sedation — you are asleep and feel nothing. There are no incisions, so there is no wound and nothing to care for afterwards.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey?

It is a single-day procedure. You fast for eight hours beforehand, the endoscopy is done under sedation, you are discharged the same day and you can fly home the same day. There is no hospital stay and no overnight accommodation required for the treatment.

Do I need a special diet before the procedure?

No. Eight hours without food or drink before the procedure is the entire preparation. There is no pre-treatment diet and no liver-shrinking regime of the kind used before bariatric surgery.

Can gastric botox be repeated?

Yes — once the effect has worn off the procedure can be repeated. Whether repeating it is the right plan, or whether it is time to consider a gastric balloon or surgery instead, depends on what happened during the first window. If you lost weight and held it, repeating is reasonable. If very little changed, doing the same thing again is unlikely to produce a different result.

Should I have gastric botox instead of weight loss injections like Mounjaro or Wegovy?

They are different tools and neither is a substitute for the other. GLP-1 medication works on appetite systemically for as long as you keep taking it; gastric botox works locally on the stomach for four to five months. Many patients come to us after GLP-1 medication because the weight returned once they stopped. If that is your situation, the honest conversation is not about botox versus injections — it is about whether surgery is now the right answer.

What if you decide gastric botox is not right for me?

Then we say so. If your BMI and medical history point towards a sleeve or a bypass, botox will underdeliver and you will have spent money on a four-month delay. The assessment costs nothing and is not conditional on booking anything.

Send these four things

With this much information the first reply can already tell you whether gastric botox Turkey suits you, what it would cost and what to expect — instead of a chain of follow-up questions.

  1. Your height and current weight — so your BMI can be calculated.
  2. Your age.
  3. Any diagnosed conditions — particularly heart or lung disease, and any history of gastric ulcer, since both affect whether the procedure is safe for you.
  4. Any previous stomach surgery or endoscopic treatment — including a balloon, a sleeve, or GLP-1 medication you have taken or stopped.

If it turns out that surgery is the better answer for you, that is what you will be told. Nothing is charged for the assessment either way.
